A cafeteria building, part of Aflivadem Vocational School in Ankara, Turkey has reduced their energy consumtion with 50% by installing innovative products when retrofitting. The building was one of three demo sites in the A2PBEER project. The following products were installed: On top of the roof solar collectors connected to an absorption system was installed. This innovative thermal network provides the DHW to whole district during the whole year and cools the cafeteria during summer. Smart Ligting from Toshiba and Parans combine sunlight via optical fiber with LED light was also installed to reduce the energy use.

Promoting Energy Efficiency in Buildings – IPA

The project aims to sustain better designed new buildings and increase energy efficiency in existing buildings by establishing criteria for improvement with building needs and typology analysis. The Project targets a 10% increase in energy efficiency in buildings by  training, raising awareness activities and technical analysis. Climate zones according to the local architectural features and building typologies will be identified, and a building simulation tool for the improvement of energy efficiency criteria will be established.

Energy Efficiency in Buildings

This is a public campaign prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization about why we need to increase the energy efficiency in buildings, emphasizing economic and environmental reasons and how to increase it through the use of insulation, HVAC systems and deep renovation. This is circulated on Youtube and aims to increase the public awareness about the renovation of existing buildings for higher energy efficiency.
